News from Brussels / Week 15-21 May 2017
Last week, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker allocated the digital dossier to the Bulgarian MEP Mariya Gabriel, who was nominated by the Bulgarian government. MEPs took the final vote on new rules enabling EU citizens with subscriptions for online films, TV series, games and sport events to access this content while temporarily in another EU country. Besides, they advocated a halving of food waste in the EU and debated Brexit. As a follow-up on proposals made by the EU Commission, MEPs also discussed how the EU can tackle the negative effects of globalisation.
