Enjoy the Own Business Day
19 September 2017METRO’s global campaign for small and medium-sized businesses
Business owners –whether it’s a restaurant, the small food store around the corner or our favorite barista at the weekly market- make our lives easier and more enjoyable. To support the work of our customers –mainly small and independent business- and recognise their dedication and the role they play in our communities, our sales line METRO Cash & Carry celebrates yearly in the 35 countries where it operates the “Own Business Day”, targeting 21 million METRO professional customers. This year’s edition will take place on Tuesday, 10 October.
Also in Belgium you are invited to enjoy special offers from our customers. For example, only in Brussels, 120 business owners will participate in the initiative; over 80 in Antwerp and surroundings and around 20 in Gent. A free Rioba coffee or a glass of wine, an extra dessert or an appetizer … Our customers will offer special deals, discounts and small treats to their clients - all day long, all around you!
This is your chance as political influencers in the EU to directly support small and medium-sized companies in the hospitality sector – just by visiting their establishments and enjoying the special offers they created for you. You can check them in the interactive map
By the way, the Own Business Day is a worldwide event. This means on 10th October you can find special offers in every city where METRO customers are present. Just check www.own-business-day.com and you will be immediately directed to the special offers available in the city you are – in the EU and worldwide.
METRO supports independent businesses worldwide
With this initiative, METRO wants to help our customers to promote their business, gain more attention and reach new clients through customised marketing tools. In the run up to the Own Business Day, METRO Cash & Carry has placed at the disposal of its customers an online platform featuring special offers for the local public and comprehensive information on participating businesses. This event underscores METRO’s culture of staying in touch with its independent business customers and understanding their needs and challenges.
Moreover, for this year’s edition METRO has commissioned an international study to provide further insights into the challenges that business owners face and the general public’s attitudes towards them. We will report on the outcomes of the study here at the Digital Office EU – stay tuned!
It will be a day full of new experiences and special offers – powered by proud business owners. By giving them the attention they deserve and promoting their activities with this special event, we eventually strive to bring more business to their doorsteps –underlining our aspiration to be the Champion for Business
