METRO and tsenso start the testing phase for the „Freshness Index“
To reduce food waste, the start-up tsenso and METRO are testing alternatives to the "best by"-date.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted worldwide every year. At the same time, 800 million people around the world go hungry. To help fight this paradox, METRO started several cooperations to reduce food waste in their own business. Among these partnerships is tsenso, a start-up that developed the "freshness index" as an alternative to the best by-date.
