Ad hoc regulation without benefits for farmers at the expense of consumers

Since the beginning of 2024, various politicians from the government factions have been calling for the German Agricultural Organisations and Supply Chains Act (AgrarOLkG) to be tightened up in order to regulate the so-called "market power of trade" as a result of the so-called farmers' protests following the announced subsidy cuts. How exactly this is supposed to help farmers remains unclear. After all, only 5-10% of agricultural products are sold directly to the food trade. The rest is purchased by the food industry or is exported.
